I managed to secure an evening release pass to see the Matt Schofield Trio at The Bullingdon in Oxford (which used to me my local pub in my student days). A fantastic gig with some of the best guitar playing I’ve heard. The combination of drums, guitar and Hammond organ is just so right. It was great to see some live music, it was a packed house (mainly men of a certain age with beards), but the fact that a young British blues guitarist can fill a venue on a monday night is a very good thing.
I urge everyone to check out Matt’s music … I like ‘The Trio, Live’ but all his albums are great.
